Temporary HVM barrier ARMIS ONE for Oltner Chilbi
The annual Oltner Chilbi attracts 160,000 visitors to the centre of Olten every year. For four days, young and old alike enjoy themselves on the fairground, stroll through the numerous stalls and enjoy a bite to eat in the festival pubs.
Since 2024, the city of Olten has been protecting festival visitors with the ARMIS ONE temporary HVM barrier.

Olten shows the way: Temporary HVM barriers instead of concrete blocks
Olten has previously hired temporary HVM barriers from Basel or Zurich. Now the city has invested in its own HVM system: the new ARMIS ONE – the first of its kind in the world.
The purchase brings clear advantages, as the city is now independent of external resources. This is because several major events often take place in Switzerland at the same time. “We had to rely on the reserves of others, so to speak,” explains Chilbi boss Francesco Mauro. The limited availability and low protective effect of the rented barriers led to the decision in favour of the most modern and effective system on the market, ARMIS ONE.
The new barrier system also offers space-saving storage and easy transport. Pedestrians are not hindered, and wheelchairs and pushchairs still have easy access. Thanks to the folding barrier segments, access for deliveries or emergencies remains possible at all times.
